Mark Robert Waldman will led a presentation titled: "The Neuroscience of Compassion, Hostility and Effective Communication".In this unique presentation, Mark will present, for the first time, a university-developed strategy for rapidly defusing emotional conflicts while simultaneously enhancing empathic dialogue and cooperative behavior between any two individuals, or within a group setting. He’ll explain the neural circuitry that generates anxiety, anger, and defensive posturing, and he’ll describe a number of brief interventions that attorneys and mediators can use to encourage collaboration in difficult situations where opposing belief systems are concerned. These strategies are grounded in evidence-based research in the fields of social neuroscience, neuropsychology, neuroeconomics, and mindfulness-based practices that have their roots in meditation and variety of spiritual practices. Mark is an Associate Fellow at the Center for Spirituality, University of Pennsylvania, and adjunct faculty at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
